Triggered Women and Girls record 1 st win June 2011 New club website The club has a new website to run alongside the clubs play-cricket website. There is also a poll where you can vote on your player of the month and don’t be shy to add a forum. Register now and contribute with photos, reports and views. The website can be found at http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/lowestofttowncricketclu b/ Magnificent May for Reynolds Elliott Reynolds won player of the month for May as voted by our members on the website. Elliott received 67% of the votes. B team Captain Dean Pierpoint said “Elliott has been a real asset to the B team this month. He has taken the attack to the oppositions bowlers from the outset of his innings. The obvious highlight was a fantastic unbeaten knock of 144 where he led the team to victory with stunning shots and the inevitable bit of luck. Elliott hit another fine 100 displaying some fine batting technique. To top of his month of May Elliott has been great behind the stumps and supported the bowlers well. At this rate he will be opening bowling as well...maybe I could even let him off for being late each week, if he continues to play as well as he has!! LTCC W&G's have played two games against Norwich ladies and Garboldisham Ladies. In their first game they lost to Norwich ladies by 9 wickets. Memorable performances were from Peggy Tirimanna (35), Esther Hebditch (14) and Jayne George (12) with the Bat. With the Ball, good performances came from Amber Tirimanna 3-0-18-1. Also, a great performance fielding from LTCC W&G's made it an enjoyable game overall! In the W&G's second game they played a strong Garboldisham Ladies side where they came out victorious by the narrow margin of 1 run. Memorable performances came from Peggy Tirimanna 46 and Esther Hebditch 22 with the Bat. In the field, LTCC W&G's fielded well keeping the Garboldisham Ladies behind the run rate. Top bowling efforts from A.Tirimanna, L.Newby, K.Nottingham and Esther Hebditch who took a wicket a piece kept the score narrowly shy of the LTCC W&G's total of 113-4. The start of Lowestoft Town Cricket Club In 1844 the first reports were printed in the Lowestoft Journal featuring Lowestoft Town Cricket club playing cricket matches on the Denes. In 1853 a permanent ground was acquired on the Denes next to an area used to dry and repair fishing nets. The club continued to progress quickly gaining a good reputation which established itself as one of Suffolks top premier cricket teams.

Triggered Wenger Bus Required? June 2011 Young Lowestoft team puts in excellent performance! It was my great pleasure to preside over the first ever game for Lowestoft KS1 cricket side as they took on Topcroft on Sunday 26 th June in a game of Kwik Cricket at a sun-soaked Denes Oval. Having been practicing for just over a month there were, understandably, a few arms as bent as Mpho’s “on the ocke” quicker ball and a few bottom- handed swipes in the style of Andy Thompson in a run-chase, but there was also a fantastic amount of ability and surprisingly good cricket on show from both the Lowestoft side and our Topcroft counter parts. Lowestoft’s team of 6 and 7 year olds comprising Biff, Dom, Harry, Adam, George, Devan, Daniel, Cody & Charlie (missing were Jack & Joseph who were away on holiday) was fantastically turned out and managed to score 275-5 in their allotted pair’s overs (teams start on 200 and lose 5 runs per wicket) after captain Biff won the toss and exercised the golden rule of “win toss, bat.” Lowestoft’s top performer with the bat was Dom, who hit 5 boundaries in his score of 24 against some fine bowling and fielding by the visitors. In reply, despite some outstanding bowling by Harry and Devan in particular and an outstanding catch off his own bowling by Adam, Topcroft’s greater experience told as they replied with 281-3 to record a victory. The match was played in a brilliant spirit of great excitement in front of probably the largest crowd the Denes Oval has seen in many a year (for any match), which included three very interested Lowestoft stars of yester-year, Ferlin Cross, Lawrence De Coteau & Simon Hailey. The re-match at Topcroft, scheduled for 24 th July is eagerly anticipated. Many thanks goes to willing volunteers, Emma & Mary Sims for providing refreshments for players and spectators throughout the morning, to Simon Hailey for umpiring and Theressa Du Plessis for scoring. Gary Bennett Driving School, Man of the Match: Dom. By P Sims 100 Club starts 1 st July The clubs first 100 club takes place on 1 st July. Any one still wishing to enter needs to get their Money to Neil before Fridays big draw. It could be You! Practice Tuesdays and Fridays 17:30 Seniors should be making every effort to get to practice. Karl ‘Jonty Rhodes’ Storey has shown practice really does make perfect producing two world class diving catches in recent matches.
