Sc1 Skills for Key Stage 3 © Pearson Education Limited 2004 Unit 8F Compounds & Mixtures Investigating evaporation Anya wanted to investigate the rate of evaporation of water. She took a beaker and filled it with 10 cm 3 of water. She then placed the beaker in an oven at 20 0 C for one hour. At the end of this time she measured the volume of water remaining.

Sc1 Skills for Key Stage 3 © Pearson Education Limited 2004 Unit 8F Compounds & Mixtures Anya then repeated the investigation at four higher temperatures. Finally, the whole investigation was repeated a further two times. The table shows the data gained: Volume of water in beaker after 1 hour (cm 3 ) Temperature of oven (°C) Test 1Test 2Test 3Average 2010 10.0 4096108.3 608888.0 806655.7 1002101.0
