Procedure Writing Guidelines Procedure is written step-by-step. 1. ___________________________________________________________ 2. ___________________________________________________________ 3. ___________________________________________________________ Procedure is written in imperative tense (no pronouns). Place the beaker on to the hot plate. Stir the mixture with a glass stirrer for 2 minutes. Then you put the beaker on the hot plate and make sure you stir the liquid for 2 minutes. Procedure instructions are specific. Pour 20 mL of water into the 50 mL beaker. Pour the water into a beaker. ✓ ✓ ✗ ✗

After You Finish Your Procedures Create a section below your procedures. Title it Potential Problems In this section: Anticipate problems you might come across in your experiment. Discuss independent variables you have to make sure you eliminate. Example: If testing how different levels of light affect plant growth then all of the plants have to get the same amount of water.
