3 1. Charter Charter - April 2006: –Authority –Subcommittee Purpose –Expected Outcomes –Responsibilities –Leadership, Roles, and Reporting Note: Within the context of this charter data includes metadata. Also within the context of this policy, data is used interchangeable with information.

4 1. Plans Plans - January 11, 2007: –Engage COIs in advancing the management of Federal data as a valued national asset. Each COI will implement the 3 pillar framework strategy. –Authoritative knowledge center for: Best practices, DRM, Implementation solutions, Strategies, Frameworks, Standards, and Policies, procedures, and other guidance –Stewards of the FEA DRM and related documents. –Federal Data Broker.

5 Communities of Interest (COI) Vision Each COI will implement the 3 pillar framework strategy. Business & Data Goals drive Information Sharing/Exchange (Services) Governance Data Strategy Data Architecture (Structure)

6 1. Plans Six Strategic Goals for DAS: –1. Improve decision making by citizens and government. –2. Improve availability of government information and services to citizens. –3. Improve communication among government entities and with citizens. –4. Reduce cost of government through re-use of quality data. –5. Increase business driven Federal data production and management. –6. Improve quality, visibility, discovery, accessibility of and confidence in available information.

7 1. Plans 2006 Accomplishments - January 11, 2007: –Six Strategic Goals for DAS: Goal 1 and 6: No activity yet on these two goals. Goal 2: Initial Results. Goal 3: Initial Results. Goal 4: Haven’t touched on this, but work accomplished by PERSON work group might fit here. Goal 5: Initial Results.

8 1. Plans 2007 Potential Activities: –DRM Implementation Guide – Feedback from Best Practices Work Group says the demand for this guide is high. Development is pending resources. –Develop recommendations for services to enable discover and access available information. –Federal Data Quality Profile Development. –Explore and Expand on DAS collab.core.gov, DRM portal, and other communication tools (e.g. registry search, wikis, requirements tools. –DRM version 3.0 – Only if changes are requested. To date, nothing reported.
