Going Old School For NEW RESULTS
2
We have discussed before the fact that the average adult in the U.S. receives 147 emails a day We have talked about the power of cards and notes What it boils down to is good old fashion direct mail
3
Harold Spurr – 25+ year Mortgage Professional and President of Spurr Mortgage – was kind enough to share this with me (one of Harolds good referral partners shared this with him) USPS Every Door Direct Mail Service
4
The U.S. Postal service has every mailing address there is They also have incorporated a very robust demographics tool The combination allows you to do very FOCUSED direct mail campaigns With anti-spam laws it is harder to get in the email in box (where you compete with 146 others) than to get in the home mail box (where you compete with 7 to 9 others)
5
Here’s how it works – 1.Plan Your Mailing - Use the mapping tool to help choose your postal routes and demographics 2.Create Your Mail piece - Design your own or hire a printer or mail service provider to create it using Every Door Direct Mail size specifications 3.Pay Online or at the Post Office - Pay for postage online with a free USPS.com® account or pay at the Post Office 4.Drop Off your Mail - Bring or send your mailing to a Post Office for delivery.
6
You can go to the main USPS.com website and select advertise with mail and get an entire user guide, break down of how to use it, all the rules and everything in between I found the user guide clunky and over explanatory and overall not helpful So instead……I poked around
7
Start by going to the Every Door Direct Mail site www.eddm.usps.com You can begin by entering your Zip code and search (or specific address)
8
A map of your area will come up
9
At the top of the map are your demographics Switch to residential first and formost
10
You can adjust the age demographic you are targeting
11
Then you can hover over the different routes and see the demographics of that area
12
Select 1 or multiple routes to mail to
13
Create your account
15
Before you choose your drop off date…..Save your order You need to get your mail piece together
16
Call your local printers NextDayFlyers.com is a good service (they do EDDM specific printing)
17
Get your pricing based on how many you will send (my sample was 1678)
18
Homework today – 1.Get your USPS account set up 2.Play with the EDDM map 3.Write down 3 specific Niche markets you want to find We will discuss the actual post cards and other sending options – What to say – to generate calls
