H OW DOES ONE CREATE A SOURCE SHEET A record must be kept of each and every source that is used to gather information. The full title, author, place of publication, publisher and date of publication must be noted

G ENERAL GUIDE TO FORMATTING FOR A BOOK: Author (last name first). Title of the book. City: Publisher, Date of publication. Example: Dahl, R. The BFG. New York: Farrar, Strauss and Giroux, 1982.

FOR AN ENCYCLOPAEDIA Encyclopaedia Title, Edition Date. Volume number, “Article Title,” page numbers. Example: The Encyclopaedia Britannica, 1997. Volume 7, “Gorillas,” pp. 50-51

FOR A MAGAZINE: Author (last name first), “Article Title.” Name of Magazine. Volume number, (Date): page numbers. Example: Jordan, J. “Filming at the Top of the World.” Museum of Science Magazine. Volume 47, No. 1, (Winter 1998): p. 11.

FOR A WEBSITE Online sources must be listed by their full URL or WWW address and not just the search engine that was used. URL or WWW address. Author, Item name, date. Example: http://www.bostonglobe.comhttp://www.bostonglobe.com. Reed, M. Today’s News, August 3, 2011.
