1890 Government regulations Each room in tenement house have a window. Kitchen sink and running water. Community toilets were to be located in the stairway area connecting the floors.

1880 Pullman Row houses- Chicago The town of Pullman was built as a complete company town for the workers of the Pullman Palace Car Company. Much of the residential parts of the old town still stand, while most of the industrial buildings are gone. This is undoubtedly one of the most historically-significant neighborhoods in the city.
