Labor unions can greatly impact the work environment, the operations, and the overall profitability of the company. With this in mind, MAX’s Restaurant is motivated to eliminate the prospect of employee unionization through several avenues, which we incorporated in our everyday actions and activities. We at MAX’s promise to perform the following to ensure no labor unions are needed: Open Door Policy Monthly Team Meetings Respect Compensation Grievance Procedure Policies Review Opportunities Leadership Training

Unionization can greatly impact operations and overall profitability in the following ways: Employees will most certainly have to pay a union membership fee, which could mean an increase in pay to cover these costs. Union meetings would occur during work hours, which would impact the usual operations. Union demands could have a significant impact if requirements were to be modified including, but not limited to, direct compensation and benefits (including increase in time off available), work schedules, and working conditions (including any equipment or training deemed necessary). If a strike were to occur, the cost could be damaging to the restaurant, not only in a monetary aspect, but in the public image as well. The union could also mandate pension plans for those full- time employees, resulting in a direct hit on the bottom line.
