4. 4 Business/IS versus Engineers & Computer science professionals Computer science Business/IS professionals Computer science and electrical engineering students are trained to work in hardware, software, and networking vendor firms, such as Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, and Cisco Systems. B/IS students are trained to work in end user organizations, such as banks, government agencies, and manufacturing firms-- organizations that use Computer Networks to get their work done

5. 5 Course objectives n Describe the layers in the OSI 7-layer model and analyze their application in real-world networks. n Describe the various types of networks and internetworks and evaluate their application in a variety of business situations. n List and describe the principles of good network design, network management n Understand telecommunications systems and the Internet operation Knowledge
