3. 2. Victim A. There must be characters who do not like the victim because it creates tension and conflict. B. He/She must be good enough so that you want to solve the mystery.

4. 3. Murderer A. He/she must be inconspicuous (not obvious to the reader). B. Otherwise, the story is over!

5. 4. Suspects A. Must have motive B. Must be shady (suspicious) in some way C. Must have lack of faith in other suspects (They have to suspect each other of committing the crime.)
