5 RTI, Jammu Presentation 2.1 5 Goals Goals are necessary because activity must be directed towards some end. Goals may not be explicit, but where there are no goals, there is no need for Managers

6 RTI, Jammu Presentation 2.1 6 Limited Resources Economic resources are scarce. The manager is responsible for their allocation. Managers be effective in achieving the goals that are established but that they be efficient in relating output to input.

8 RTI, Jammu Presentation 2.1 8 Human Resource Management HRM concerned with ‘PEOPLE’ dimension in management. HRM is a process consisting of four functions: Acquisition; Development; Motivation; and Maintenance of Human Resources

This includes the estimating of demand, the estimating of supply, and the integrating of demand and supply into a total human resource strategy. Acquisition also includes the recruitment, selection, and socialization of employees.

11 RTI, Jammu Presentation 2.1 11 M otivation Within the motivation function, we look at job satisfaction, performance appraisal, importance of linking compensation to performance and how to handle problem employees.

15 RTI, Jammu Presentation 2.1 15 Assured Career progression Scheme The Assured Career Progression Scheme for Central Government employees introduced by the Government of India on the recommendations of the Fifth Pay Commission to deal with the problem of genuine stagnation and hardship faced by employees due to lack of adequate promotional avenues.
