2 Literacy Instructions Thursday 7 th January 2010 Making a pop up card

3 You try Step 1: Begin with piece of card. Step 2: Fold the paper in half. Step 3: Draw a line from the folded edge of the card to the centre. Step 4: Cut along the line starting at the folded edge Step 5: Fold back the top flap to form a triangle... Step 6:...and crease with your thumb or finger.

4 You try Step 7: Fold back the bottom flap to form a triangle and crease with your thumb or finger. Step 8: Put the bottom triangle flap back in its original position. Step 9: Put the top triangle flap back in its original position. Step 10: Open the card up like a tent. Step 11: Using your thumb or fingers, push the top triangle through to the inside.

5 You try Step 12: Using your thumb or fingers, push the bottom triangle through to the inside also. Step 13: Close the card... Step 14:...and press firmly.

12 You try Step 7: Fold back the bottom flap to form a triangle and crease with your thumb or finger.

13 You try Step 8: Put the bottom triangle flap back in its original position.

14 You try Step 9: Put the top triangle flap back in its original position.

15 You try Step 10: Open the card up like a tent.

16 You try Step 11: Using your thumb or fingers, push the top triangle through to the inside.

17 You try Step 12: Using your thumb or fingers, push the bottom triangle through to the inside also.

18 You try Step 13: Close the card...

19 You try Step 14:...and press firmly.

20 You try Step 15: Open your Mouth Pop-up!

21 Now discuss Was there any difference between following instructions that have illustrations and following instructions that dont? Which did you find easy? Why?
