3 CONCERT 2004 Product & Project Overview Over 5,000 employees working in 80 companies worldwide 1,400 journals and 5,000 new books published each year SpringerLink hosts over 600,000 journal articles, and over 65,000 book chapters Springer is investing heavily in new products: – Digitization of over 1.5 million articles - 12 million pages of backfiles – Nearly all new books to be published will have their electronic versions Springer is taking the lead in providing author-centric services: – Online editorial and production process management for journals – Springer Open Choice

9 CONCERT 2004 Copyright and Self-Archiving Springer supports author self-archiving policy: – Authors are allowed to post their articles on pre-print servers – Authors are allowed to post their own version on their personal website or in their institution’s online repository, with a link to the publisher’s version Springer offers unlimited access in two ways: – Author self-archiving – Springer Open Choice
