Scope of Project/Problem Statement Provide weather condition in a local area from data which provided by the National Weather Service (NWS) to a user’s computer Send an alert to a users’ computer when there bad weather conditions in the area like heavy rain, ice storm, and hurricane. Modifying data from NWS’s Informational project to meet the needs of our project.
5
Significance and Uniqueness of Project This project will monitor the NWS web site and Send the user an alert when bad weather conditions are in the local area.
6
Scope of Project/Problem Statement Use two internet base formats, Really Simple Syndication (RSS) and Extra Marked up Language (XML), to observe and exchange weather data from the Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS) station in the local area.
7
Potential Technologies This project will use RSS, XML, Java and any other programming language deemed necessary to accomplish the project.
8
Issues/Concerns/Backup Project Update information from NWS. The information from the NWS is in an experimental phase; so, it might be terminated before finishing developing the project. Updates once every hour, so the data is not in real time.
9
Backup Project purpose by Jeff Sickels. It is base on java program which involves a server and a client. There will be an access to database and java program running on the server. The java program on the server is used to access the database and get information from the database. The java program on the client is used to connect to the server program and send the request from the user to the database and then transfer the requested information back to the user. Use other source from http://weather.yahoo.com/rss/
