Mid-autumn Festival ( 中秋节 ) Mid-autumn Festival is on Aug. 15 th of the Chinese lunar calendar. On the day of Mid-autumn Festival, families gather together, eat moon cakes and observe the moon. (The moon is round on 15 th of each month and especially beautiful on Aug. 15 th.) Mid-autumn Festival is the second most important traditional festival. There are numerous poems written about it. The most famous one was written by 张九龄 (Zhang Jiuling) “ 海上升明月,天涯共此时。 (The moon rises from the sea; even the remotest place shares the same moment)”
