What is the food pyramid?
An easy way to show the groups of food that make up a good diet. Tells you to eat a variety of foods from all 5 groups. Tells you how much of the foods in each group to eat to stay healthy.

Why is it shaped like a pyramid?
The pyramid shape helps explain what foods you should eat more or less of. The foods that make up the widest part should provide the biggest part of your diet. As you go up the pyramid, the amounts of different foods you need get smaller.
