Student numbers on rotations are increasing at the RVC… but without an increase in number of cases in all rotations The Situation:

Students not satisfied with the way theyre assessed, and often lack feedback National Student Survey 2008

Our response: Develop a system that: Students can enter cases into Students can utilise to work through cases Students can use to look up cases Staff can use as a teaching resource Can satisfy both staff and students

Feedback Would be a good way of revising for finals, as a lot of these questions are case- based e-Cases are good if its quiet on rotations, as can look up cases They reinforce a logical approach to solving a case, which would be useful in practice e-Cases are good at getting the students to work up a case in a structured manner They help facilitate deep learning
15
Problems weve encountered Getting e-Cases through for uploading Quality control not always adequate Owner consent Ownership of content – student or RVC?
16
Outcomes: Clinicians using system in small animal, farm and equine rotations All final years exposed to system Over 25 cases edited and shared online Second stage of project now being planned
