SCHOOL VISION How present is A+ in your school mission and vision? Developing: We are trying to figure out how A+ connects with what we already do. Proficient: A+ is a part of our mission and vision. Accomplished: A+ is a prominent and important part of our mission, vision and school improvement plan. Distinguished: A+ is woven seamlessly into the day to day business of educating our students.
20
SCHOOL VOICE If a visitor walked through your school community, who would be able to tell them about A+ and how it impacts your school? Teachers? Students? Parents? Community? Developing: We still aren’t really sure what A+ really is ourselves, how can we tell others? Proficient: Most of our teachers could probably share what A+ is. Accomplished: Everyone on our staff and many of our students and parents can talk about A+. Distinguished: Our entire school community, including our students, parents, partners, district folks and even our brand new teachers can all talk about the impact of A+ on our school community.
21
SCHOOL VISIBILITY How do visitors to your school, website, marketing materials, media releases and school events know that you are an A+ School? Developing: We are just starting to think about this because we have realized that we don’t talk much or show much about being an A+ School… Proficient: We have lots of student art on display and are working on updating our materials and making A+ more visible. Accomplished: We’ve updated our website and materials with the new logo and have our history as an A+ school on our website. Our halls are filled with the sights and sounds of arts integration and when you come to a school event, we always mention that we are an A+ School! Distinguished: Everywhere you look, you will see something that tells you that we are A+. It is such a part of everything we do, we want everyone to know we are part of the A+ Schools Network!
22
Continuing the Conversation: Where is our school in its implementation of the A+ Essentials? Where do we need to grow and develop? Vision, Voice and Visibility: What is our commitment as a member of the A+ Schools Network? Where do we need to do more work? Summer Needs Assessment: What are our most pressing needs? What do we need this summer? 2013-14 Plan: How will we continue to grow as an A+ School through the next 12 months? ALL A+ SCHOOLS SHOULD BE SELF ASSESSING
23
SUMMER A+ DEVELOPMENT All schools should be considering at least a day of summer PD Networking is a focus this summer Don’t let funding be an obstacle (65% rule) All PD is tailor-made to your staff’s needs All PD is developed from the Common Core and Essential Standards and is supported and enhanced by our DPI partnership On-going A+ PD is one of the 3 elements that researchers found as essential to success and sustainability
