Dr. Seuss was born on March 2, 1904 in springfield, Massachusetts. His real name was Theodor Seuss Geisel After World War II He wrote and published several children's books in the coming years, including If I Ran the Zoo and Horton Hears a Who!

The Cat in the Hat, was published in 1957 and was described by one critic as a "tour de force." The success of The Cat in the Hat cemented Geisel's place in children's literature.

The National Education Association is building a nation of readers through its signature program, NEA’s Read Across America. Now focuses on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources. Cause Dr. Seuss Want Kids to love to read that way he made his books so fun. This is why we have Dr. Seuss week or national read week the week of his birthday!!
