1 Lesson #4: Irregular Verbs A verb is a word that describes an action or a state of being. It is usually the word right after the noun. Irregular verbs like the ones in this lesson don’t form the past tense by adding –d or –ed.

2 Awake/awoke/awoken Verb: to get up from sleep Alexis awoke at dawn to finish her homework.

3 Become/became/become Verb: To start to be Studying every night, Ian became a star student.

4 Bite/bite/bitten 1.Verb: To close your teeth around something 2.Verb: To cut with your teeth Keith broke off a piece of chicken to bite into.

5 Bring/brought/brought 1.Verb: To take someone or something with you 2.Verb: To carry Keri brought in cupcakes for her birthday.

6 Creep/crept/crept Verb: To move slowly and quietly Hoping to scare Mrs. Harris, Trezure crept up behind her.
