7 Postgraduate Routes into Teaching Postgraduate Certificate in Education e.g. Primary PGCE course at Hull Campus (5 to 11 year olds) e.g. Early Years PGCE at Scarborough (3 to 7 year olds) e.g. Secondary PGCE courses at Hull Campus (various specialist subjects)

8 Main Features of the Hull Primary PGCE Course A Grade 1 provider One-year, full-time course, lasting 38 weeks Pre-course day at the beginning of July Course starts at the beginning of September About 50% of time is spent in schools >School 1 Autumn Term >School 2 Spring Term >School 3 Summer term >Plus other work in schools e.g. English course, Maths course, EAL visits Substantial training in the Core subjects (English, maths and science) Training in ALL Foundation subjects plus RE Strong emphasis on ICT e.g. using interactive whiteboards

9 Main Features (continued) Opportunity to train to be an MFL specialist Professional Studies lectures and tutorials Many sessions are provided by local teachers and headteachers Its a demanding course >Sessions are compulsory >Very few free periods >Coursework assignments >Teaching Practice preparation and planning But a very rewarding course and rewarding career 60 credits at Masters level Finish at the end of June
