Imperialism=Economic, political, military or cultural take over of a nation by a dominant one. Economic-When one nation controls so much of another nation’s economy that the other nation cannot be in complete control of its government. Political-When one nation removes a leader of another country and puts its own leader in charge. Military-Using a military to dominate another nation. Cultural-When another nation adopts consciously or by force aspects of another culture.

European Imperialism 1.New resources allow more material to make cheaper goods. 2.Overproduction-Europe just went through the Industrial Revolution. This revolution used machines to make goods. The problem was that Europe was in need of raw materials to make more goods. 3.Jealousy (specific to Germany) 4.Superiority 5.Nationalism 6.Spread Democracy-Not Europe only the US motivation for imperialism.

Overproduction Pretend there are 100 people living in America. If all 100 purchased a desk then answer the following: Would any more desks be purchased? If you were the company making the desks how many would you produce next year?
