5. Syncing an iPod Touch to iTunes  Syncing is from a Macbook to the iPods in the syncing cart  Sync occurs simultaneously  Each iPod must sync to the original sync computer. All group 1 iPods will always sync to the group 1 computer

6. iTunes Accounts  iTunes is free software that allows users to add, purchase and play media (music, video, apps, documents)  Media is available at no, low and high fees. Some fees are one-time purchase, others must be renewed each year.  A school iTunes account is necessary to download and update free or purchased media  iTunes supports many audio and video file formats and will convert many non-supported to supported formats.  Media must be authorized for and is limited to the iPods synced to a particular computer.

7. iPod Security  A determined student will delete or upload media.  iPods can be locked to hinder or block students from deleting or adding media  iPods can be ‘cleaned up’- but it’s not easy!

8. iTouch the iPod  Touch the Home button to see the Home screen ( you may need to swipe to open the iPod. Swipe your finger the direction of the arrow)  Touch the music icon on the toolbar. To exit, touch the Home button.  Touch the video icon. The video plays automatically. To exit, touch the home button

9. Apps, Apps and more Apps  Touch the Home button to see the Home screen ( you may need to swipe to open the iPod. Swipe your finger the direction of the arrow)  To move to the next screen, swipe your finger right to left  There are multiple pages of apps, keep swiping!  To open an app, tap once. To close, touch the Home button.

10. Editing an app  Swipe to the Home Screen  Tap the Weather app  Tap the icon ‘i’ in the lower right  Tap the + in the upper right corner  Add Arlington to the list of cities and make it the default.

11. Learn a little something from an app  Touch to go Home  Swipe to the Countries app  Tap the FactBook and visit a country  Find a fact that is new to you

12. Find an app or two  Touch the Home button  Tap the Apps Store icon  Tap search  Enter education 4 free inc  Tap the icon for an app that meets a curriculum need at your school. Though you cannot download on this iPod,you can view the description.

13. iKeyboarding General keyboard settings can be modified.  Touch the Home button  On the Home screen, tap Settings>General> Keyboard. Tap to turn all features On  Touch the Home button to exit  On the Home screen, tap Notes  Tap the + in the upper right  Type your name, your favorite pastime and how you can share that with your faculty and students.  Use the space bar to accept the suggested text  TapTap the up arrow for all caps  TapTap the space bar for a period instead of selecting numbers and punctuation keyboard  To copy/paste, hold our finger on a word until the magnifying glass appears. Release>choose Select>Copy. Move your finger to another place on the note, press and hold>Magnifying glass>release>paste

14. Are iPods in the classroom a distraction? Perhaps. Pencils - now those are real distractions - always having to sharpen them, kids throw them, they write inappropriate notes with them, they can use them to cheat, they poke each other with them, they get pencil lead stuck in their fingers, they steal them, etc. I think we should ban 'em. http://ipodclassroom.wikispaces.com/
