Background Information Tsung-Dao Lee was born in Shanghai, China. This is where he received his school education. In 1945, Tsung-Dao attended the National Southwest Associated University. This is in Kunming, Yunnan Province.

Education Lee completed his sophomore year. After that, he received a Chinese government fellowship. Which was for graduate study in the US. 1946-1950, Lee studied at the University of Chicago.

Here, he was selected to be a doctoral student. In 1950, Lee received his Ph.D. degree. Which was on his thesis. Which is the Hydrogen Content of White Dwarf Stars.

Later, Lee worked as a research associate. And also a lecturer. He did this at Yerkes Astronomical Observatory. This was in Wisconsin.

Also at the University of California at Berkeley. And The Institute for Advanced Study; Princeton, NJ. Lee is a widely known Scientist, and was praised. As one of the most brilliant theoretical physicists known.

In 1953, Lee joined Columbia University. He did this as an Assistant Professor. He was successively promoted to Associate Professor; 1955. Promoted to Professor in 1956.

Lee was awarded with the Nobel Prize; 1957 Second youngest scientist to receive this distinction Lee has published over 300 scientific papers. And also several books.
