Sustainable Travel Policy Encouraging walking and cycling Encouraging the use of public transport Managing car use and parking to encourage more sustainable travel choices Supporting the TravelWise scheme Regularly monitoring transport modes Employing a Travel Co-ordinator to oversee implementation

Pedestrians & Cyclists Strong on-site footway/cycleway network with connections to external routes Creation of a mixture of dedicated footways/cycleways using internal roads Bike parking and changing/shower facilities integrated into new buildings as a matter of course Student residences will be built within walking or cycling distance of campus where possible A cycle repair and maintenance centre will be set up

Summary The University has a significant impact We are endeavouring to manage that impact Expansion of facilities for both teaching and research, and the associated support services such as catering and student accommodation The development areas proposed are all contained within the land first approved for development in 1964 New developments would be designed and constructed according to the highest standards – BREEAM ‘Excellent’
