Acquisition of knowledge of science and technology is the only solution for the problems of Muslims. Our Educational Endeavor A. Scholarships to meritorious but financially challenged students at AMU ----AMU Scholarship Program B. Financial Assistantship to meritorious but financially challenged students at institutions elsewhere – Feeder/ Coaching Program Selection of Students: For AMU Scholarships --Students are selected on the basis of a composite index based on means (family income per dependent) and merit, also special requirements laid by sponsor (subject, grade, geographical…) For Feeder/ Coaching Centers - Students are selected on the basis of means (family income per dependent) and merit Status in year 2013: 1. Presently, the number of students getting scholarships at AMU = 240 scholarship - Rs. 12.6 Lakhs ( $25,000) 2. Presently, the number of students getting free education at Feeder Institutions = 340 students at 17 schools - Rs. 8.5 Lakhs ( $17,000). 3. Presently, the number of students getting free coaching at Coaching Centers = 590 students at 7 Coaching Centers - Rs. 8 Lakhs ( $ 16,000). Funds: Annual Fundraiser, year-long campaigns, and investment. AMU Scholarships are awarded from only investment income of the scholarship fund. Where as for Feeder/ Coaching Centers Program - Donations are used in the same year. The Association accepts donations from all charitable sources, be it Zakat, Fitra, personal savings, etc. All donations to the Association are tax- exempt in USA. We thank all our sponsors and patrons who remained steadfast in their support of our educational uplift cause. Please keep on supporting these two very important Educational Endeavors. Aligarh Alumni Association Washington, DC The AMU Scholarship Program Many bright students at AMU lack financial resources. Our AMU Scholarship Program is geared towards such students–to provide them financial assistantship, guidance and mentorship.

AMU Alumni Association of Washington DC Over 1,800 Scholarships awarded to students who became Engineers, Scientists, MBBS Doctors, BUMS Tibbs, Nurses, Lawyers, Economists, Teachers,……….. A Few Examples: Ms. Rubina Badar Recipient of a scholarship from AAA - Economically very poor - Graduated from AMU (2002 Nursing), Gainfully employed at AMU - Advocate for the scholarship program & a mentor Miss Sabika Zaidi Recipient of a scholarship from AAA - She topped in her B.Sc. class in 2006 - Graduated, M.Sc. Zoology Mr. Abdul Alim Barbhuiya Recipient of a scholarship from AAA - Graduated from AMU (2006 BA Economics) - Selected for Fulbright scholarship (One of the nine selected from India, the only one selected from AMU)- Studied at Indiana State University (Business Management). Aligarh Alumni Association Washington, DC The Feeder Program Educational Backwardness Among Indian Muslims is due to lack of financial resources, social conditions, lack of educated environment, lack of guidance, lack of educational institutions, and lack of mentorship Hence, the Need for Providing Free Education to Students outside AMU, at various Feeder institutions

7 A New Beginning Implanting Seeds for Future Projects Launched in 2009 1. Feeder Institutions: Providing Tuition fee + stationery/books -Students at Primary, Middle & High school levels- 20 students / school/ District. Rs.250 /month/student (Rs.150 for Tuition, Rs.100 for Stationery/books, etc) Rs. 50,000 /Feeder Unit 2. Coaching Centers: Providing free coaching poor/deserving students at the Middle & high school levels- 50-75 students / school / district. So far over 1800 scholarships provided Feeder/ Coaching Centers - Progress in Three Years Presently, we are providing free education to 900 plus students in schools spread across many districts/ states of India---UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, Kashmir, Assam, W. Bengal, Karnataka. And manage 15 Feeder Units and 7 Coaching Centers. This project is defined as a "minimal cost-maximum impact" Model
