Oregon Response to Intervention www.oregonrti.org Teaching Reading is Both Essential and Urgent! “Students who can’t read are doomed to a life of less.” Saxton Assuming students will ‘catch up’ with practice as usual is not wise. Catching up is a low probability occurrence. Improving outcomes for struggling students will require a very different kind of effort in both the short and long run.
