1 Recipe Conversions Peach Cobbler Javon Spencer & Emily Toombs

2 Original recipe 4 cups peeled, sliced peaches 2 cups sugar, divided ½ cup water 8 tbsp butter 1 ½ cups self-rising flour 1 ½ cups milk Ground cinnamon, optional

3 Recipe Directions Combine first 3 ingredients in a heavy saucepan. Beat egg yolks; combine egg yolks and milk into ingredients, until smooth and thickened. 1/3 of peaches in a 3 quart of butter in baking dish, lay 2 sliced bananas over wafers. Pour 1/3 of mixture over melted butter. Repeat twice. Beat eggs with an electric mixer until foamy. Gradually add ¼ cup of 2 tablespoons of sugar, one at a time. Beat until stiff peaks form and then add 1 teaspoon of vanilla, beat until blended. Meringue over custard, sealing to edge of dish. Bake at 350* for 25- 30 minutes or until golden.

5 Chemical change What indicates it… it began cooking and the heat changes it. – Changes in color Turns brown – Changes in odor starts smelling good – Changes in texture it becomes more of a solid as it is cooking.

6 Physical change The sugar water dissolves as the heat enters. The peaches has a phase change when the peaches get hot and let off it’s juice.
