When is it? Monday 24 TH March Tuesday 25 TH March Wednesday 26 TH March

What is it about? The overall aim of the week is to provide a context for tutors, students and support staff to share in learning experiences related to the development of the values dimension.

Aims of the week The week will provide opportunities to: explore our own values, attitudes and beliefs; raise our awareness of how these influence us in learning and teaching situations; increase our knowledge and confidence in addressing issues related to values and attitudes; experience and reflect on examples of practice;

Aims of the week influence the development of the values dimension across the whole curriculum; equip both tutors and students with experiences which will inform their teaching and learning throughout the year learn about the values and experiences of people in other cultures; consider the value systems and perspectives of others.

How will the three days be organised? There will be a range of lectures, seminars, workshops and visits These will be provided by tutors, students outside speakers and agencies Some sessions will be compulsory and students will sign up for a minimum of two additional sessions.

Which sessions must I attend? RE lecture (Year 1) and RE seminar (Year 2 and 3 students) The key note lecture by Michael Rosen A meeting with your professional tutor

What other events will there be? The education of chronically ill children Woven Lives Rights of the Child – Unicef NSPCC Democratic classrooms Supporting refugee children DARE Storytelling

Events Drumming Antiracism and multiculturalism Visits to places of worship (£1 donation) Citizenship at the Galleries of Justice(£6) Scandal and Gossip in Clifton Village Sustainable Technology Black and Women’s history in Nottingham Visits to special schools Feedback on Yr 3 special programme

How will I choose which sessions to attend? There will be three sign up notice boards, one for each of the three days Information for each of the sessions will be available on the notice boards in the near future Signing up sheets will be available from 25 th November – remember to sign up quickly if you are on SBT in the Spring term Allocation of places to each event will be shared equally amongst year groups.

How many sessions can I attend? You must attend the compulsory sessions and you will be allocated to these in seminar groups You must attend a minimum of two other sessions and a maximum of 4 You can only go on one visit Half day sessions will count as 2 sessions Whole day visits will count as 4 sessions

Signing up process Years 1, 2 and 3 will sign up in the week beginning the 25 th November Year 4 and PGCE will sign up later in the Spring term Events for which there is a cost will need to be paid for at the time of signing up Once signed up, changes cannot be made

What if I can’t get into the session I want? Don’t be too disappointed – we hope to continue to run Values Week every year and there will be other opportunities. There should be sufficient places for you to find something of particular interest to you.

Fundraising We are hoping to raise some money for a local children’s hospice charity and there will be a on-going, fundraising event throughout the three days based on the theme of food and healthy living

Finally………. This is our third go at organising this event and we hope it will run smoothly and be as successful as last year’s event. Ensuring you follow the guidance for choosing sessions will really help to make sure everyone has equal opportunity to participate. Enjoy the week!!
