Pullman Strike of 1894 It was because of reductions in wages. Approximately 3,000 employees went on strike The New York Times described as "a struggle between the greatest and most important labor organization and the entire railroad capital" At it's peak it involved some 250,000 workers in 27 states

Coal Strike of 1902 A strike by the United Mine Workers of America in the coal fields of eastern Pennsylvania The strike threatened to shut down the winter fuel supply to all major cities The miners received more pay for fewer hours as the result The first labor episode in which the federal government had to intervene

Seattle General Strike of 1919 Dissatisfied workers in several unions began the strike to gain higher wages after two years of World War I wage controls over 65,000 workers in the city of Seattle, Washington were involved
