2 Will comprise: Continuation / finalisation of existing projects (DW): Index of Services Production Manual (ISP); Data and Metadata Presentation Manual (incorporating work on presentation terminology; presentation of growth rates; presentation of seasonally adjusted data). Maintenance of timeliness framework (review; revision, updating, promotion). Benchmarking? – depending on other priorities New projects (David Brackfield): FUTURE WORK

3 Index of Services Production (ISP) Manual Work will entail preparation of a draft ISP Manual: Revision of Sections A to C; Expansion of Section D; Preparation of Section E (Methodological issues) Task force will continue their work – results sooner than later New members of task force sought to work on specific parts of draft Alternative would be to contribute not necessarily as task force member Main issues: Appropriate combination of recommendations + current national practice Therefore need to broaden examples of current national practice – compilation of NA by production method relevant (14 OECD countries) – STESEG role in linkage. Utilisation of relevant existing work on methodological issues (for Section E) Terminological issues – definition of turnover? Reinforce value added to GDP EXISTING PROJECTS

4 Index of Services Production (ISP) Manual - Timeline Sept 2004 – prototype to be presented at Voorburg – incorporating input from STESEG 2004 Feb 2005 – 3 rd meeting of the Task Force – discussion of first draft, especially Sections B, C and D June 2005 – STESEG meeting – review of 2 nd draft – incl. Section E October 2005 – presentation of 3 rd draft to OECD NA meeting and Voorburg Group End 2005 – prepare final version of ISP Manual incl. Section F and Annex Early 2006 obtain approval of OECD Committee on Statistics by written procedure EXISTING PROJECTS

5 Data and Metadata Presentation Manual Manual will be the focus of future work on data presentation and seasonal adjustment: Changes to papers on terminology, growth rates, SA from STESEG discussions to be made directly into draft Manual; OECD will review possibility of combining growth rates & SA with principal authors Revisions to terminology to be undertaken first to ensure consistency Terminology Initial changes to definitions by mid-July Will be referred to STESEG members by written procedure at end August Will task force need to formally exist? – or will work be undertaken bilaterally, less formal procedures EXISTING PROJECTS

6 Data and Metadata Presentation Manual - Timeline Sept 2004 – comments from STESEG incorporated into future version Presented to other I/Os at CCSA in early Sept Revised version to be discussed at UNSC in March 2005; STESEG members consulted by written procedure at same time Final version to be approved by OECD Committee on Statistics in June 2005 EXISTING PROJECTS

7 Timeliness Framework Work over next 12 months entails: Incorporating changes to current version from STESEG discussions Reviewing any additional papers referred to OECD for possible incorporation Forwarding request to STESEG members in early 2005 for additional papers Promoting the framework – individual STESEG members on corporate websites, etc OECD to formulate strategy for promotion – with Organisation’s corporate tools – website, MEI, Newsletter – requests to other I/Os Review usage STESEG 2005 (relatively short item) Discuss usage Discuss changes to content Identify interesting paper for possible presentation EXISTING PROJECTS

8 Benchmarking Invite for STESEG to participate in next OECD – Eurostat conference on benchmarking at end 2004 What further role / work for STESEG – depends on other priorities? EXISTING PROJECTS
