A decimal point is a dot that separates the ones tens and so on to the tenths hundredths and so on. this is a example of number with a decimal point: 4.89

Dividend is the number being divided. here is a example of dividend. 8/2=4.

Divisor the number that you are using to divide. here is a example of the divisor. 8/2=4

A map scale is a tool that helps you estimate how many miles there are in a place. here is a example: 1 inch = 200 miles

When you skip count by a number, your counts are the multiples of that number. Example: 5,10,15,20 are multiples of 5.

A quotient is the answer of a division problem Example: 42/6 =7. 7 is the quotient.

Magnitude estimate is a rough estimate where you decide if it’s in the 10’s, 100’s, 1000’s and so on. Example: Say you have 146, and the magnitude estimate is 100, and say you have 289, the magnitude estimate would be 300. Add them together and you get 400.

A remainder is what is left in a division problem that is less than the divisor. Example: 42/5 = 8 with a remainder of 2.

A variable is a letter that you use to represent a number on a problem. For example 10 + 13 = F. F is the variable.
