On a small farm, a litter of pigs was born. One of the baby pigs, named Wilbur, was the runt of the liter. Since Wilbur was the weakest, scrawniest and most vulnerable of all the pigs, his future was not looking bright. The farmer was planning to kill Wilbur until… No Papa! Please don’t kill that pig! Oh my bitter sweet baby Fern, fine, you can keep the pig.

As Wilbur started to grow, he became harder and harder to care for. Soon, Wilbur was sold to Fern’s Uncle. Goodbye Wilbur! I love you! Oink! Goodby e Fern!! I love you too.

Where am I? Zuckerman’ s Farm, kid. Will you be my friends? I’m expecting goslings. I don’t have time! I’m kosher. My mom doesn’t let me play with strangers. Who will be my friend? Frightened on the new farm, Wilbur sat alone in his pen without any friends. Later, Wilbur met animals who said…

I’ll be your friend Wilbur. Who and what are you? I’m Charlotte and I’m a spider. A Spider, Wow! Goodnight friend. Good night, friend. About to fall asleep, Wilbur heard a voice.

You’re not going to live until winter. Whaat?? According to my sources, your dead as a doornail. Bacon is in your future Yum. I don’t want to die! Waahh! Eventually, Charlotte made Wilbur feel like he was at home. Inside the barn Wilbur heard the goose squawking loudly. The goose ran to Wilbur at a rate of 500 mph. Listening in the pen, Wilbur heard the goose say… Not a surprise though. I’ve never seen a pig live past winter unless he was a fair winner.

Charlotte! I don’t want to die! Don’t worry, Wilbur, I have a plan.

To save Wilbur from becoming dinner, Charlotte wove “some pig” into her web. Once the farmer discovered the web, everyone came to see it from all over the country. That’s some pig! It’s a miracle. Wilbur looked up at Charlotte and smiled.

After a couple of weeks, people started to forget about Wilbur and the web. Charlotte, as clever as she is, thought of a new word to weave into her web. Terrific was this word. Charlotte! Did you make this last night? Don’t worry about it. I wanted to help you. After the news about the web spread, everyone came to see the terrific pig.

Once again everyone forgot about the terrific pig, and Charlotte needed a new word for her web. Templeton, go find me a new word for Wilbur out of a magazine at the dump This is really amazing. We should enter him in the fair. Then the farmers wife got Wilbur all clean and ready for the fair. How about crunchy ? No! Nothing about bacon! Radiant? Perfect!

Wilbur arrived at the fair with Charlotte and saw screaming kids, smelled the aroma of sweet and salty popcorn and the stench of warm animals. The groaning Ferris Wheel gleamed in the light. I’m nervous, Charlotte. You’ll be fine. YAWN. By the way, Wilbur, I laid an egg sac yesterday. Wilbur didn’t win the fair but he got another award because Charlotte wove humble in her web above Wilbur’s Pen.

When it was time to leave the big, crowded fair Wilbur called Charlotte to come with him into his crate. Charlotte where are you? I can’t come with you. I am too tired. I am going to die soon. Please! No Wilbur. Goodbye. You’ve made me very happy. I have enjoyed helping you. I love you. Templeton go get me that egg sac. Goodbye Charlotte. I love you! Sob Charlotte used the last ounce of her strength to wave goodbye and Wilbur, with the cottony egg sac in his mouth, winked at Charlotte to say goodbye and the next day Charlotte died alone at the fair.

Months later, the egg sack hatched and 419 baby spiders were born, but they constructed web balloons and floated away. Why are you all leaving me? Wilbur was happy and lived to see the winter. From that point on, two or three of Charlotte’s grandchildren would stay with Wilbur. He loved them all very much but none of them ever replaced Charlotte. We three aren’t leaving you Wilbur. We love you
