Here are some Maths and English game based activities that are worth a look: English Links Maths Links Other ideas: What about you build a snowman and then to review how to write instructions, write a set of instructions on how to do it (use headings, numbered points, diagrams, command forms and include a top tip.) Anyone bringing in a set of instructions gets a dip in the box!
