1  What two whole numbers is the square root of 8 between? How do you know?  What is 160% written as a decimal?  How do use division to change 5/8 to a decimal? What is the answer when you do so?

2  A method to solve equations.  1. Write down the order of operations you would perform on x if you knew its value.  2. Identify the inverse (undoing) operation for each operation in your list.  3. Perform those inverse operations in reverse (backward) order to solve the equation for x (or whatever variable you have).  If you have variables on both sides of the equation, manipulate the equation so that it is only on one side before doing inverse in reverse.
