(a) At age 7, you become a page - Must be from a noble family - Leave your home (b) At age 14, promoted to a squire - Duties included upkeep of equipment - Helped the knight put on armor - Did other tasks, such as carving meat - Combat training (but did not fight yet)

(c) Between 18 and 24, finally become a knight. - Dubbing ceremony - Church gives blessing - Must follow knight’s code *Sometimes, if you did well in battle you could be promoted to a knight on the spot.

Tournaments consisted of two major events: (a)The Melee A disorganized battle in close combat between two teams (a) The Joust Two mounted knights try to knock each other off horses.

Knights were the elite soldiers of their time. (a)They were better equipped. (b) They were better trained. Knights were effective because most soldiers were foot soldiers often with little more than I pitch fork and regular clothes.

The most famous story of the Middle Ages: (a) A legendary figure; most likely did not exist. (b) Wielded the legendary sword Excalibur, he pulled from a stone when he was a boy. (c) His followers were known as the Knights of the Round Table (d) Had a wizard named Merlin.
