Purpose & Goals of Safety Committee Develop safety policies and procedures based on Federal and State laws Conduct inspection of County facilities Review and investigate workplace accidents Educate employees on new safety procedures

Job-Related Injuries Report all Injuries to Supervisor Complete Accident Investigation Report Seek Medical Attention Follow-up Investigation

Your Safety Is Important If you have a safety concern in your department, report it immediately to your Supervisor, Safety Committee Rep, or Department Head Know the location of Safety/First Aid Kits Know location of Haz-Com Plan and MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets)

Haz-Com/MSDS In each County Department Lists all potentially hazardous chemicals in the workplace. MSDS provided by manufacturer to show: 1. Identity 2. Ingredients 3. Physical Data 4. Fire & Explosion Data 5. Health Hazards 6. Reactivity 7. Spill/Leak Procedures 8. Handling & Use 9. Special Precautions All containers must be properly labeled. Click Video to Play

What is a BBP ? Microorganisms that are carried in the blood that can cause disease in humans Common BBP’s are: 1. HIV – AIDS 2. Hepatitis B (HBV) 3. Hepatitis C (HCV)

How To Reduce Exposure to BBP Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Hand washing

BBP Tips to Follow Notify Maintenance Personnel as soon as bodily fluid spill occurs Always wear PPE and practice good hand washing techniques when dealing with BBP Notify Supervisor and Safety Committee Rep if exposure to a BBP occurs Click Video to Play

Motor Vehicle Policy Purpose is to outline requirements and safety rules for operation of County vehicles Must have valid drivers license Must drive in a safe and courteous manner Report any accident to Supervisor as soon as possible after notification of law enforcement and EMS (if needed due to an injury in the accident) Complete Vehicle Accident Report

Motor Vehicle Policy Drivers License records will be updated every 2 years (odd number years) for all County Employees that drive County vehicles.
