10. 2005/02/16The Digital Media Project The decisions at GA04 DMP develops a Technical Specification called “Interoperable DRM Platform” (IDP) –IDP is a “tool-kit”, i.e. it contains normative specification of elementary technologies (“tools”) The IDP Specification is developed in Phases –Phase I (IDP-1): specifies technologies for Portable Audio & Video Devices (PAV) in April 2005 –Phase II (IDP-2): specifies technologies for Stationary Audio & Video Devices (SAV) in October 2005 –Phase III (IDP-3): TBD IDP is complemented by “Use Cases” –To describe how to assemble IDP tools to build DMP DRM Systems (e.g. PAV and SAV)

12. 2005/02/16The Digital Media Project Some nomenclature A PAV is a Device capable of playing Governed Content obtained through a networked device A SAV is a Device capable of playing Governed Content obtained directly from a network. A SAV can also typically –Store Governed Content –Copy or Move Governed Content to another SAV or to a PAV possibly after Adapting it –Export/Import Governed Content to/from a non DMP DRM System.
