Problem: Eye damage from excessive screen time 1
5
Display devices are everywhere, our eyes are continuously exposed to blue light emitted by the screens of digital devices everyday. Reports of issues of persons affected by eye strain and damage are increasing and showing younger ages.

What is Blue Light? Blue Light is the visible, closest layer next to Ultra Violet (UV) light. It ranges from 380 nm to 500 nm in the blue portion of the visible light spectrum. *nm: Nanometer UV Light is well-known to be harmful to health. According to researchers, high energy blue light with wavelengths between 380 nm ~ 450 nm can contribute to eye damage and diseases. 280 ~ 400nm Ultraviolet (UVA / UVB) 380 ~ 410nm High-energy blue-purple light 420 ~ 450nm Short wavelength blue light Electromagnetic Spectrum

The light of LED-backlit displays comes primarily from the short wavelength, high energy, hazardous Blue Light and violet, end of the visible light spectrum. Why Blue Light Hurts The shorter wavelength, the higher energy it has and the stronger penetration it has! UV light can reach the Cornea and Lens whereas short wavelength Blue Light can penetrate into Retina and Macula and cause irreversible damage! Blue Light: a danger for the retina

Removing Harmful Blue Light at the Source Shift current peak from 450 nm to 460 nm to avoid hazardous blue light with wavelengths under 455 nm with innovative LED technology. ABL Monitor Normal Monitor Short Wavelength Long Wavelength Peak: 460 nm Peak: 450 nm Removes 90% of eye- damaging shortwave blue light (380 nm – 450 nm) No effect on display color!

Testing Results of Philips SoftBlue Technology Conclusion: SoftBlue Technology blue light wavelength reduction below: (striped area) 1.380 nm~410 nm, almost complete 2.<432 nm, decreased 84% 3.<446 nm, decreased 64% Conclusion: No color deviation phenomenon, no yellowish or greenish Certified Results: Philips SoftBlue monitors are certified by SGS Labs and TUV Rheinland Peak: 460 nm Peak: 450 nm

How does it work 4
14
How Philips SoftBlue Technology Works Spectrum of Blue Chip From 450nm to 460nm Step 1: Change the peak of the blue chip from 450 nm to 460 nm. ABL and Typical LED Light Strips Step 2: Change the recipe of green and red phosphor to reach optimal white balance.
