5. Paint:
Is a mixture of pigment and liquid that thinly coats and covers a surface
Fastest and least expensive way to cover a wall surface and change the look of a room.

6. Paint: Latex: Water based Quick drying Used for interior walls
Easy to apply
Easy cleanup with water

7. Paint Alkyd: Solvent based (like oil) Longer drying time
Durable, washable
Used for kitchens & baths
Cleanup requires solvent such as mineral spirits

8. Wallpaper:
Decorative paper or vinyl applied to wall with glue or paste
Available in a limitless assortment of patterns and colors
Offers variety; covers most flaws in walls but cannot be easily changed
Vinyl wallpaper is washable and durable making it suitable for kitchens and bathrooms
Can change the apparent dimensions of a room, making it seem smaller or larger

10. Calculations for paint:
One gallon of paint will cover 350 square feet
Calculations will be based on 8 foot ceilings
Begin by measuring the length and width of the room
(L + L + W + W) x ceiling height / 350 = gallons of paint
Example: 8 x10 Room
( ) x 8 / 350 = .82 or 1 gallon (always round up)

11. Calculations for wallpaper:
One roll of wallpaper will cover 36 square feet
Calculations will be based on 8 foot ceilings
Begin by measuring the length and width of the room
(L + L + W + W) x ceiling height / 36 sq. ft. = rolls of wallpaper
Example: 8 x 10 Room
( ) x 8 / 36 = 8 rolls (always round up)
