8. The Old Man And the Sea The book is about a Cuban fisherman called Santiago, who is engaged in a battle to catch the biggest fish of his life. To break his 84 days of bad luck, he sailed farther out than he ever did and hooks a marlin. He endures three days for being towed by the fish, and almost in delirium, stabs the marlin with a harpoon. While returning to shore, sharks eat up the fish to its skeleton.
