About SAE Baja Asia 2010 The objective of the Baja project is to design and build a single seat off road race car in order to compete in the SAE Baja Asia 2010 Competition. Teams consisting of engineering students from universities around the world are tasked with designing, building and testing a vehicle to compete in BAJA COMPETITION. Each year, the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) sponsors an intercollegiate Baja® Series competition.
3
SAE Student’s Chapter at the University The Society of Automobile Engineers Students’ Chapter at BIT Mesra consists of a group of bright engineering students who are committed to strive for excellence in their endeavor. They are supported by faculty advisors from the Department of Mechanical & Production Engineering in their efforts.

Objectives To build an energy efficient All Terrain Vehicle(ATV) Ergonomics /Aesthetics To Build a competitve vehicle. To increase the durability of the car such that it would be able to withstand the harsh conditions of the endurance race. To fully design the car using CATIA V5 and ANSYS 10 so that we could ensure our subsystems would work well together and be easily manufactured.

Design Objectives Safety Durability Ergonomically Design Manufacturability Material used : Chromoly steel SAE 4130 Design
7
Manufacturability Result : Overall increase in product quality. This will allow for faster construction and increased material strength from cold working. Innovative frame design incorporates bends instead of miters(joints) in many of the structural members. CATIA also provides a quality control check of each part that has to be out- sourced. Avoid excessive out-sourcing -> Lower Manufacturing Costs
