Intended outcomes for reform of ALN More inclusive education system Improved learner outcomes and well- being Improved participation of learners Increased trust and confidence of parents Better partnerships between agencies/parents Improved efficiency

New more flexible systems Move away from statement and become more school based Individual Development Plans replacing statement with child at the heart of the process Improving support for parents Improved early intervention (Early support system established 0-5yrs) Improved transition to adulthood (upper age limit increased from 19 -25 yrs) to encourage links with Employment

Building capacity Improving quality – School Action Plans Professional development Strategic initiatives – e.g.DFS UPOSS – developing role of Special Schools Web provision

Professional Development and Performance Management RPD – there will be a required Professional Development – NQT, EPD APD – Agreed Professional development Systems Leadership - promoted through SEF (School Effectiveness framework) All staff on continuum

Continuous Professional Development WAG review of CPD and Performance Management ITT – entitlements of inclusion Core NQT / EPD professional development Mandatory ALNCo training Explore potential to work with other agencies e.g. Health – Child Development courses

Whose responsibility? Schools? Clusters? Local Authorities? Universities? Consortia? WAG? Current thinking is that funding will be linked to consortia and Universities
