3 Focus of CIP Request  New North Westminster Area K-8 School  New Career & Technology Center  Replacement of 14 Single Ply Roofs that are past their useful lives  Replacement of 6 Heating, Air Condition, and Ventilating (HVAC) Systems that are past their useful lives 8/27/2014

4 North Westminster K-8 School Replace both Charles Carroll and William Winchester Elementary Schools Replace Westminster East Middle School Total Project cost = $72,444,000 Based on 220,000 square feet Elementary School Capacity of 979 and a Middle School Capacity of 790 Supplants $72,000,000 million in last year’s CIP for modernizations of Charles Carroll, East Middle, and William Winchester 8/28/2013

5 New Career & Technology Center Replace current Career & Technology Center Total Project Cost = $75,972,000 Based on 200,000 square feet building housing 29 programs Eliminate Roof and HVAC projects if funded 8/28/2013

6 Roofing Projects 8/28/2013 CIP moved SCHS and WHS roofs up to FY16 based on condition Plan replaces 14 single ply roofs that are past their useful lives Plan also eliminates the need to replace Charles Carroll and East Middle roofs Implementation of this plan will leave six schools that still have single ply roofs

7 HVAC Systems 8/27/2014  Plan replaces six HVAC systems that are past their useful lives  Plan also eliminates the need to replace Charles Carroll and East Middle HVAC systems

8 Kindergarten Additions 8/28/2013 Plan includes last four Kindergarten Additions required as part of the move to Full Day Kindergarten Kindergarten classes are currently being held in classrooms were not designed to meet the instructional needs of Kindergartners

9 High School Science Rooms 8/28/2013 Plan includes the renovation of 19 science classrooms at our oldest high schools that have not been renovated to meet today’s instructional program The County’s current Adopted CIP does have funding included to complete these projects Plan amended to align with County funding timeline

10 Other Systemic Renovations 8/28/2013 Plan includes the replacement of aging electrical equipment at Westminster High and Sykesville Middle Plan includes the replacement of existing Fire Alarm System at North Carroll High Plan includes the replacement of existing windows at South Carroll High and Westminster High

20 Career & Technology Center Systemic Renovations vs. Replacement School Roof and HVAC Project are in poor condition and are in FY16 Request Systemic Renovation projects can be viewed as a commitment to utilize the existing Center for another 15 years 8/27/2014

21 Systemic Renovations  BOE CIP Request includes $29,500,000 in Roof Replacement projects ($14,495,000 Local)  County Adopted CIP includes $13,346,000 in Roof Replacement projects ($5,169,000 Local)  BOE CIP Request includes $39,384,000 in HVAC Replacement projects ($19,095,000 Local)  County Adopted CIP includes $6,410,000 in HVAC Replacement projects ($3,121,000 Local) 8/27/201421
