THE IMPACT OF SCHOOL FACILITIES ON THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION, HEALTH AND OPERATIONS KEY FIGURES AT A GLANCE: Energy improvements could save 25% on our school electricity bills - that’s roughly $2 billion per year, or enough to hire over 35,000 teachers 9 out of 10 school administrators believe that investments in their school buildings improve the well-being of students 15,000 schools have air that’s unfit to breathe 7.1 million children suffer from asthma, the leading cause of school absenteeism due to chronic disease. Approximately 14 million school days are missed each year due to asthma More than 40% of surveyed school nurses report that children and staff are adversely impacted by avoidable indoor pollutants.
