1. The new College Ready point can help you answer these questions: *Are pre-college students helping the college to increase their overall points per student- thereby moving student further/faster? OF STUDENTS WHO ATTEMPTED PRE COLLEGE: How many students are still trying to become college ready in English? Math? How many students became college ready in English, math this year? Of the students who became college ready this year, how many also completed college English or math? Are basic skills students transitioning to college ready in English and math?

2. The new 45 Credit Points can help you to know: How many students are becoming transfer ready, or completing 45 college credits with a workforce focus. For professional-technical students, the point indicates substantial progress within their program as it is awarded upon successful completion of at least 30 prof- tech credits plus any other 15 credits For transfer students, the point represents “transfer readiness” as it is awarded upon successful completion of a series of courses within the distribution requirements for the associate degree programs

3. Cohort tracking can be done from each of the milestones: How many basic skills students do you have and how far do they get How many pre-college students do you have and how far do they get How many students do you have who start the year with 15 college credits or less and how far do they get How many students do you have who start the year with 30 college credits or less and how far do they get How many students do you have who start the year with 45 college credits or less and how far do they get Any point coupled with the retention point, can tell you if returning students increasing their achievement or completing.

4. Key Points on New Funding Methodology and Understanding Points: Colleges want to know what impacts achievement, to link strategies to points. Funds are no longer awarded on net point gain from year to year. Colleges had trouble identifying why things changed or how much change was due to enrollment changes. New funding methodology changes from what happens from year to year to focusing on what happens within the academic year- New methodology is a combination award of total points, completions, and points per student

5. Key Points on New Funding Methodology and Understanding Points, continued: Examples: College Ready Math: Counts students for becoming college ready and completing college math. Awards 3 and 4 point respectively at the end. Provides a way to measure the effectiveness of strategies that accelerate students through pre college and into college level. Can be measured on a student by student (cohort) basis using the college ready point values, and more efficiency will increase points per student Retention Point: Awards an additional point for prior year students who return and increase their achievement. Benefits both total points and point per student. Provides a marker for identifying successful year to year retention strategies.
