2 Purpose  Provide an overview of the processes leading to the GP  Provide links to documents and reports that contributed to the GP, mainly through Prevention Web  Outline details of each sub-component

3 Global Platform 16-19 June 2009, Geneva, Switzerland  Main mechanism of the ISDR System to sustain world-wide momentum to build the resilience of nations and communities to disasters.  Convened by the United Nations Under- Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs in his capacity as Chair of the ISDR System.

20  Principle ◦ Minimize regional carbon footprint related to GP travel  Two ways to contribute ◦ Voluntary payment to offset carbon emissions associated to travel from the region to the GP – focused mainly at organizations sponsoring travel ◦ Voluntary participation in offsetting activities in Thailand together with NGOs and CBOs – focused mainly at organizations and individuals who cannot pay  UNISDR role ◦ UNISDR to make the link for direct payments to NGOs and CBOs doing carbon offsetting work in Thailand ◦ UNISDR to also acknowledge those who voluntary offset travel through a sticker for their GP badges  What is requested from IAP ◦ Agencies and individuals to contribute and participate
