Banner Waitlisting 100 Software process that provides the potential opportunity for a student to register for a class that has currently met enrollment goals. If a waitlist is enabled for a class and the maximum number of regular seats are taken, additional students may be added to this list in anticipation of a regular seat being made available. When a student is added to the waitlist, they are prioritized automatically based on eligibility rules created by the college. A seats becomes available and notifications are sent to a waitlisted student(s) when… A regular seat held by a student is dropped; and/or Regular seating capacity is increased administratively. Seating is controlled to ensure waitlist prioritization occurs and students cannot “line jump”

What error checking should be performed to ensure a student is actually eligible for the seat they want to waitlist.

Which courses can be included in waitlist processing. If you leave it blank, all courses are included.

This example shows that students studying Marketing, Sport Management, and Economics will get priority on the waitlist over those who are non-majors in these areas.

What automated prioritization rules should be applied to class being waitlisted?

Each class can have controls for inclusion and web display.

HP 202 has no regular seats available, and 15 waitlist slots. There are 3 on the list at this moment.

HP 202 has 3 students on the waitlist.

Waitlists 8.0 CalB Add Authorization Code Functionality Add Authorization Start Date Based on SOATERM: Registration Processing Controls: Days Required Relative to CRN Start Date Without using Automatic Notification, Wait-listing is available to Midnight of the Authorization Start Date Waitlist Notification Period Based on SSAWLSC if populated, otherwise SOAWLTC: Waitlist notification deadline XX hours No Notice Period For a given CRN, Wait-listing is available from the start of registration up to the (Add Authorization Start Date minus the Waitlist Notification period) Students are NOT able to add to the waitlist during the no notice period. No new notices are issued. Only students with pending notices may register

Student Perspective: Bradley Mesa

Students searches for a HP class and sees it is closed but a waitlist is available.

Students adds himself to the waitlist.

Students passes error checking and is added to the waitlist.

Faculty Perspective: Dr. Johnson

Faculty member can see that a waitlist icon is present on a class and click it to view the students.

Summary waitlist view. These students have not been notified of an available seat yet.

Detail waitlist view.

Dr. Wilson reviews waitlist

HP 202 had 3 students on the waitlist.

Bradley was automatically prioritized higher than Rana Reagan as she is a ECON major, and he is a SPRT major. This list can be altered manually by changing the WAITLIST PRIORITY number for a student.

Here Bradley has been MANUALLY moved to priority #1 by an authorized user. Note the Waitlist Origin. The waitlist will be activated when a seat becomes available in the class – drop, increase of seats.

Merriam drops the CRN #10863 that she was registered for. This automatically the waitlist notification process.

Bradley is sent an email notification that the seat is now available and this is logged on his record along with his expiration date/time.

Student Perspective: Bradley Mesa

Bradley receives the email notification and logs in to register for the waitlisted course.

Bradley’s registration status is immediately reflected on the waitlist notification query page in Banner.

Banner Waitlisting makes everyone happy!
