NTIA Spectrum Summit April 4-5, 300-400 participants Areas of Discussion –(1) greater cooperation among Government agencies; –(2) modernizing spectrum management policies; –(3) anticipating future technologies; –(4) removing uncertainty over spectrum availability NTIA is in the process of assimilating the comments made by the panelists and developing initiatives to address these issues.

The IRAC – How it works… IRAC is an ADVISORY committee Main IRAC meets twice a month – 2 nd & 4 th Tuesdays Since 1922 IRAC Subcommittees – specialized topics Ad Hoc groups – specialized topics A collegial body…almost all work by consensus…voting is rare (except in FAS) Experienced professionals Many members have other duties such as communications engineering, etc.

How a Federal Agency obtains a Freq. Authorization… Field office or local DC office selects frequency (or frequency band)… Sends request to its IRAC/FAS member IRAC/FAS member submits to NTIA electronically App is processed & reviewed for errors, etc. App sent electronically to all IRAC/FAS members FAS votes electronically …if no problems… NTIA approves in 15 working days Entry into Gov. Master File (GMF)
