Framework of Kingdom. Rev 20 Mortal populace during Millennium will need to be educated in ways of God. Saints to ensure justice - no political movements to be allowed. 20:1-3 show intention to restrain possibilities of rebellion.

1” ¶ And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.” Rev 20.

New Society. 20:2 Symbolic language - links Dragon with that old serpent - the Devil (false accuser) and Satan (adversary) - not names of actual being. Forces of human promptings personified throughout scripture. Such promptings to be restrained by work of the Saints - eliminate warfare. Peace and prosperity will develop from practice of true love towards God and man. True Christian principles will prevail.

Rewarded. 4 “And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.” Rev 20

The Thousand Years. Why literal 1000 years? six days of creation - seventh a Sabbath: six thousand years history: sevent h - Kingdom. Day-for-a-year principle results in exceedingly long time period - not fitting. Word ‘year’ used in prophecy always interpreted literally (e.g. Jer.25:11). 20:5 First Resurrection = FIRSTFRUITS = Saints given immortality at marriage.

Events of the Kingdom. 20:5 Several categories of people at Jesus’ return – “rest of the dead” refers to those who die during millennium. 20:7-10 Control by Saints relaxed - time of testing of true belief/faith in God arrives. Among hard-hearted revolt develops. “Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly.” (Isa 26v10)

End Things. 20:8,9 Rebellion gathers momentum - camp where Saints dwell - surrounded. Eventually Judgment overwhelms rebels. 20:12 At end of 1000 years - resurrection of those dead during it - then final judgment. Full harvest of immortal beings achieved. 20:14 Death and the grave have, for ever, claimed their last victims. Jesus gives up Kingdom to the Father.

14 For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. (Hab 2:14)
